Automatic Subtitle Search

Need some help understanding the automatic subtitle download task. I have OpenSubtitles linked and I am allowed 20downloads a day. However, I have no idea if Jellyfin is actually doing that in the server. When I look at the download history in OpenSubtitles I found that there were only the manual requests I had made in the log, it looks like Jellyfin did not search for any. How can I check to see what subtitles are being downloaded by Jellyfin? and is there another way to have something automatically search and download subtitles? Thank you.

It will write to the log what it downloads.

First, install the plugin, which it sounds like you did.  Then configure each library to download from Open Subtitles and tweak the settings: The subtitle language, whether to skip if it already has subtitles, etc.

   

The problem is that you have no control over what Jellyfin chooses to download subtitles for.  It is random.  However, there is an app called Bazarr that has the same function, ties in with Jellyfin and OpenSubtitles, AND gives you much more control over how you use your 20/day allocation.

Personally, I use Bazarr and I also opted to get the annual subscription to support them and to remove the daily limit.
