Hey. I had a lot of buffering in Jellyfin (Direct Play) with large files (4K at around 50GB+) on my TV. Which is reasonable I understand. Since I didn't have an Ethernet cable connected from my PC to my TV.
My setup is Windows 10, Jellyfin installed on my system drive (SSD) and my movies/shows on HDD.

I've recently bought a network switch so that I can have my PC connected to the switch and also my TV connected to the switch.

It basically fixed almost all of the buffering, especially the seeking (10 seconds back / forward is now pretty quick). But it still buffers at times, randomly / not randomly (every other minute). Especially with these big files, 40-50GB+ stuff. Almost never with stuff below 40-50GB

I don't know what to do anymore really.. any help would be appreciated!  Upside-down-face

Jellyfin version 10.9.9. But I just updated to 10.9.10 though, haven't tested the new version yet, however.

    My gear is;
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor
    RAM: DDR4 32GB
    Motherboard: B550M DS3H
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT

Since it is direct playing, the issue is likely client side. What client are you using to play content on your TV?
    Jellyfin 10.10.7 (Docker)
    Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS w/HWE
    Intel i3 12100
    Intel Arc A380
    OS drive - SK Hynix P41 1TB
    Storage
4x WD Red Pro 6TB CMR in RAIDZ1

Sorry, I don't get your question.

This is for the server (AMD64).

On my TV (Sony A90k OLED 42), it's the normal app from the Google play store, it's a Google TV operating system.

Manufacturers cut costs on Ethernet ports in TVs by limiting them to a 100 Mbps connection, even in high-end models. You might actually get a faster connection through Wi-Fi. I recommend buying a USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet adapter.

Not something I need. The last movie I watched (which was buffering) was in around 68.1mb/s.

Okay so I got an adapter (Cable Matters' one), seems to work perfectly. You were right.
I didn't even think about peak bitrate. Only thought about average bitrate.
