    Hello all,

    Newbie here! Please have patience!

I D/Led the server software for windows and installed it on host "missy" 10.1.253.135. I opened the tray and am monitoring the messages.

I D/Led the client on host "ENVYW10" 10.1.253.60. I try to connect and get the dreaded "Connection Failure. We're unable to ...."

I looked through some of the similar posts and did try the "tracert missy" and it gets there in one hop. I looked at the firewall rules, and there's none inbound for JF; but I turned Windows Defender Firewall off temporarily.

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

PS - should I also be able to http:// or https://missy and get the JF running?

One more thing: in the server monitoring window, there's no indication that a client has tried to connect...

What happens when you type in the IP address instead of the host name. If your DNS is not setup for reverse lookups, it may not work with just the hostname.

Thank you. Actually I was using the IP address, raw numbers e.g. 10.1.253.135

I also tried https://10.1.25..135, same problem
Also: I launched the Jellyfin "view console" on the server, and it gave a bunch of messages and immediately disappeared. Couldn't tell what it was saying. Tried it 3x, same thing...

Can you post your Jellyfin logs to sourcebin or pastebin then link them back here?

Thanks, TDP. First, how do I acquire the logs? Second, what is sourcebin and pastebin, and how do I use them?

    C:\ProgramData\Jellyfin\Server\log

    https://sourceb.in/

Copy and paste the contents of your log to that page, save, and it will change the URL. Copy and paste that URL here.

Hi, TDP. Thank you; sorry for the delay, was out of town.

Did as you suggested, here's the URL: https://sourceb.in/aoY0RFf0NJ

Note: I just tried to connect so I could get a fresh log. Attempted connection failed as usual, but there's no new log with todays' date in that path...

Can you restart Jellyfin then share the entire contents of the log? I need to see the startup process for Jellyfin.

Also: on the server, I opened the tray and launched JF. I see a bunch of movie thumbnails; I double clicked one, it played just fine (I don't know about the sound, though; I connect to the server using TightVNC so I don't know if the sound works, and there are no speakers on the server.

    Server JF shows: http://localhost:8096/web/index.html#!/dashboard.html

    HTH.
