I installed Jellyfin so I can cast to my TV via Chromecast (Gen 2) but it will not cast. It shows that it is connecting to Chromecast but media will not play.
Chromecast worked on Plex until Plex lost connection to my server which is my PC. So I uninstalled Plex and installed Jellyfin.
Jellyfin build is 10.9.9. PC is on Windows 11.
Does Chromecast work on Jellyfin? I did see something about blocking 8888 in the router. Is this necessary?
    Thanks.

    My Specifications:
    Jellyfin build 10.9.9
    Windows 11 Home (x64)
    AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
    RAM 32 GB
    NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti
    Chromecast Gen 2

What if you use the browser Google Chrome, is that then able to cast to the Chromecast?
Please also share your jellyfin logs with pastebin when you try to use the cast function.

Are you casting from the Chrome browser on a desktop or laptop? The mobile version doesn't have Chromecast built in to the browser.

I have managed to cast from a Chrome browser on a laptop.

Another test would be to try to cast anything else apart from Jellyfin via the browser. You should be able to cast content from any tab.

I'm using Jellyfin on a desktop PC. Chromecast works on everything else (Plex, VLC, etc). I can cast the screen or tab in Chrome browser.
But when I start Jellyfin and activate the Chromecast, the TV screen shows the Jellyfin logo and 'Ready to Cast' but any video will not play.
Here is my Log File after attempting to play one video:

I see you are accessing Jellyfin with "localhost" on the same machine running Jellyfin. Did you allow Jellyfin through the Windows Firewall? Accessing Jellyfin with "localhost" would circumvent any firewall issues.

Jellyfin server is allowed Inbound UDP and TCP in the Windows Firewall. No outbound. Do I need outbound?
