The app on my Fire TV device no longer connects to my local server in the local network. It was working fine until a few days ago, today I went to watch new content I uploaded to my server and the app fails to connect. Every other app on Fire TV is working perfectly fine.

Investigating, I did a packet capture from the Fire TV and discovered that the app is not asking for DNS's AAAA record but only A record, however my server runs in IPv6-only mode and been working like this for years with no issues - matter of fact, every other device on the local network can connect to the server and playback content perfectly fine at this very moment.

No configuration changed server side nor router side of things, so I presume a recent update broke it.

    Application version: 0.19.9 Release

Where did you install the app from? Amazon Appstore

Device information: Amazon Fire TV Cube (3rd Generation)

Android version: Fire OS 7.7.1.4 (PS7714/5507)

    Jellyfin server version: 10.11.11

Can you confirm on the Fire TV device that it has was assigned an IPv6 address?

Yes, it does. It gets GUA & ULA (I use both in my LAN), as well as default route a.k.a. gateway & DNS addresses accordingly.
Also tested in both Ethernet & Wi-Fi connections, same results on both of them.

In your router for this? Or did you check the Fire TV's settings menu that it actually has an IPv6 address? If you've made a bunch of networking changes, may need to reboot the FireTV device or something to get it to let go of any cache IPv4 addresses.

Just to put this out there, the Jellyfin app does not determine which DNS record to use or ask for. It tells Android I want the IP for jellyfin.domain.tld and android responds with 192.168.X.X. or fe80::1, or whatever address.

Checked directly on Fire TV settings, rebooted device and reinstalled app several times just to make sure.
I didn't change any configuration on my environment, rather being network related or Jellyfin related, and no DNS queries for AAAA are being made on this Fire TV, only for A.

Maybe Amazon borked my Fire TV connectivity in some way? How would I suppose to call their Expert Tech Support and explain the situation (if such thing exists, in the 1st place)?

Yeah. Not sure how else to help. Pretty much every app hands networking tasks to the operating system. And, AFAIK, Jellyfin is not different.
