Hey, I have been running Jellyfin for a few months, and have set up my own collections for any movie series (IE one for Star Wars, one for Harry Potter, etc.) Just recently I noticed that my collections no longer have any selections in them (possibly it just deleted the media in them?). I can still see the collections I made, but none of the actual movies show up in them anymore. It also takes an incredbily long time for the collections tab to load now. Does anyone know of any work arounds?

Thanks in advance guys and gals!

Can't give you a quick answer at the moment, but i had a similar issue. It appears to have something to do with the way info is stored in the DB along with new updates of metadata.

As far as i can see. It is all connected with my "massive cache usage" issue...... The system is not deleting old info from the db's and somewhere data is being stored that is corrupting links.

I will update when I find out what is going on

Can you describe your setup?  Specifically the storage for your media.

And can you share your server logs from the day this happened?  Use pastebin to share the logs.

What likely happened is that your media was briefly unavailable during startup.  There is a job that, by default, check your playlists and collections and if any of the media is not present it will remove those items from the playlist/collection.

Personally, I disabled this job.  Dashboard > Schedule Tasks > click on "Clean up collections and playlists" under the "Maintenance" section > delete the application startup trigger.

Ahhh that makes total sense. I hope the 12.X update fixes it then. Thanks for letting me know.

That makes total sense! I just deleted that auto scheduled task you mentioned for collections. I do know there is still some sort of bug though, as it was totally fine for collections to load before, and now it will take literally an hour for them to load. I am probably going to wait until the 12.X release and see if load times speed up. Right now it would be unrealistic to sit and wait that long for a collection when I can just go into my "movies" folder and get it there, ha! I do appreciate all the help youve given me though. I more utilize collections for organization for myself so not a total loss.

As for my system and logs, lord knows how long ago this came up. I do not check my collections more than maybe once a week when deciding what movie I want to watch when bored. So it could have been an issue from 2 or 3 weeks ago now and those logs would be long gone. I am running a GMKTec Mini PC with 8GB RAM and an N150 Intel chip. I also have a Cenmate Dual Bay HDD Enclosure with two 8 TB HDD's. I did recently update the firmware in the Cenmate enclosure and that helped immensely with my buffering (it is almost non existent now) and I know you helped with that as well before, so thank you for that too.

Could you replicate the problem with collections loading then share your server logs? At least we can try tackling that problem.
