I just started with Jellyfin. This is a remarkable project. I remember goofing with Plex when it first first came out in 2007/8, and then losing interest. Now Jellyfin is blowing my mind.
I'm nearly 1T into a library, and I wanted to ask now before I get any further about the relative merits of running Jellyfin from the dmg package available for macOS versus running in Docker.
I like the ease of the macOS package and that's what I'm running now, but I've read some folks mention an extra layer of security having it in Docker. And I will be (very soon) opening the service to a couple close friends with a reverse proxy. Should I migrate to a Docker instance? Am I fine as it is? Should I fire up an Ubuntu VM?
Thanks for any insights or input. Cheers!
