Context. It appears that Microsoft has removed the AC3 codec from Edge. From Windows 10 and 11 trying to play x264/AC3 content the file is transcoded into HLS retaining the AC3 which causes a blank screen and then the failure of the transcoding. Converting the same content to x264/eac3 results in a successful HLS transcoding session. The native Jellyfin client and Chrome work fine on the same machine.
Question: Is it possible to create a device profile based on "Edge" being in the user agent name and indicate to Jellyfin that the client doesn't support AC3 and to force the transcoding to AAC?
