It seems my SRT subtitles settings are always wrong.

    A) what I actually see on screen while playback doesn't reflect the settings I made and saved at all, be it placement, size or style - see screenshots.

    B) the settings seem not Device-specific. I need larger on TV and smaller on phone or tablet, and this doesn't work. That way it's always either too big or too small.

Are these known issues? I'm on 10.8.13 but it hasn't been great for me ever.

Just verifying. Your subtitles are actually SRT, correct? If they are any of the image based formats, ASS/PGS/DVDSUB, you aren't able to change them.

Yes, actually SRT, plain text files.

Unfortunately, I don't know an answer. I know there are several subtitle bugs in 10.8. We've found new bugs upstream in the subtitle rendered we use that breaks a lot of subtitle options, including in 10.9.

Ok, thanks. Is device-specific subs something that's planned? I think wanting larger subs on TVs and smaller on phones isn't an outrageous want, is it? Smiling-face

I am not aware of any plans for something like that, nor do I see a feature request for it.

Go ahead and submit a feature request.

Same issue: when I'm watching via web browser on my tv, the subtitles are tiny (have them set to the largest possible).
