    Hello JellyFin team,

I have installed an old version of JellyFin (10.8.11) on a Synology on a trial basis (with the Container Manager) because of the known problem that the Diskstation operating system DSM has an ancient Linux kernel (4.4) and tone mapping is only supported up to this version for hardware acceleration.

I noticed that in this old version there is also the item “DLNA” in the settings under “Devices” and “Activities”. This item is not available in the current version (10.10.1).

How can this be explained? At first I thought that it might be a plugin that is no longer supplied with the newer version, but the old version does not have a DLNA plugin listed under “Plugins”....

    Greetings,

DLNA is an abandoned protocol and the decision was made to remove it from the core server code. You can still have DLNA, but you have to install the DLNA plugin, which is in the official catalog.

    Thank you again, TheDreadPirate!

Can this plugin be subsequently added to a container installation? If so, how do I do this?

It can. In the dashboard, scroll down in the left column and click "Catalog". This will list all of the plugins available in the official repo, and any additional repos you've added. You will find the DLNA plugin in there.
