    Hi,

I am new to Jellyfin and use a containered setup on Unraid (v 10.9.7). First tests look good, but I experience 2 problems:

    1) DLNA discovery (= Jellyfin being seen by DLNA-capable players) is slow and incomplete

As far as I found out this kind of issue has been reported by several users already within the last weeks. In my case DLNA is working partly:

    - some devices will detect Jellyfin, but it takes a couple of minutes (I have decreased "Blast Alive Messages" time already). These devices are my Denon AV amp, Denon Blue Ray Player and a Denon Ceol receiver. VLC on Windows does detect it also.

    - Windows Media Player does *not* detect Jellyfin, same with 8 Player Pro on iPhone. No matter how long I wait.

At the same time detection of my old Synology NAS works instantly on all devices and applications.

I might be wrong, but to me it looks like Jellyfin does send broadcasts periodically, so that listening devices can catch them and show Jellyfin in their server list; but it does not respond to broadcasts of the players, therefor the long delay. Maybe Windows Media Player and 8 Player do not listen for broadcasts and therefor do not show Jellyfin at all.  As said: just my guess.

    2) fast forward when playing by DLNA

For playing movies from my NAS (and in future Jellyfin) I am using my Denon Blue Ray Player, using DLNA. After the BR player has recognized Jellyfin, I can browse and play a move file. But in contrast to my Synology NAS I can not fast forward through the movie: with Synology I get 5 speeds of fast forward (each time I press the fast forward button the speed gets faster, after speed 5 it goes back to regular play), with Jellyfin only 2 (basically 1, because speed 1 seems to be like regular play but without sound; speed 2 may be double speed at max). That's making it basically impossible to move through the movie fast, e.g. after having stopped it in the middle.

As far as I can tell from the logs, Jellyfin seems not to transcode (I have read that while transcoding Jellyfin can not fast forward)!

Does Jellyfin really support these slow speeds only? Or do I have to change the configuration in some way?

    Thanks in advance!

DLNA used to work pretty well pre 10.9 when it was still a built-in function. This plug-in is so buggy that I have abandoned using DLNA altogether. The problem you mentioned is but one of the many issues that didn't exist before.
