Hi, I had Jellyfin running on my old ubuntu server as a normal app, now on a new ubuntu 23 server I am running it in a docker container and some of the videos it used to play will now not play and the web browsers says client is incompatible with the media.

I am thinking it must be a codec missing, or ffmpeg issue but I am not sure

You have to pass the GPU into your container. I don't know what kind of GPU you have, but here are the instructions for Intel.

    https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/admini...ualization

If you have an Nvidia or AMD GPU, both have Linux virtualization sections as well for docker setups.
    Jellyfin 10.10.3 (Docker)
    Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
    Intel i3 12100
    Intel Arc A380
    OS drive - SK Hynix P41 1TB
    Storage
3x WD Red Pro 6TB CMR in RAIDZ1 (JF Library)

I am not using a GPU, been using the CPU for transcoding previously

Do you have an Intel CPU with an iGPU? What are your specs?

Make sure that hardware acceleration is turned off. It should default to no HWA, but worth checking.

yes, HWA is off.  I used to get the same error when jellyfin didn't have read permissions on the file, but that is not the issue here this time.
