Having just started out on my Jellyfin journey (I've moved over from Plex), I found the "Intros" plugin that should enable me to play a local video file before the main feature movie/show actually starts.

I've created a H.264 MP4 file @1080p this morning in Davinci Resolve and exported it, I can play it locally without any issues but the problem comes when I try to set it up within the plugin.

So far, I've installed the plugin, created a new directory under /var/cache/jellyfin/, the directory is name preroll, I've ensured that the permissions and ownership of the directory is owned by the jellyfin user and have restarted the server.

    Here are my settings:

As you can see, the file permissions seems to be correct too:

...and for the video file itself...

So I wondered if I was doing something silly and/or if others here know that there are issues with this particular plugin?

Thanks in advance for any help Smiling-face

For anyone coming across this thread in future (looking to achieve the same thing), I eventually got this working but used this fork instead:

    https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BrianC...ifest.json

I then installed the "Local Intros" plugin from that repository (as I wanted to load my intro files from my server instead of dealing with additional latency by loading them via. Vimeo or YouTube etc.

The direct link to this plugin's GitHub page is: https://github.com/BrianCArnold/jellyfin-plugin-intros/

Hope this helps someone else in future 👌

I wanted to drop you a thank you. I too struggled to get the prerolls to works until I tried the seconds method. Worked like a charm!
    Many thanks!

Thanks, Ballen!  I'm not ashamed to admit that I've never touched a Raspberry Pi before installing Jellyfin earlier this week, so this REALLY had me stumped. Being a n00b, I was convinced that I had done every single step incorrectly, but I was eventually able to grope my way through and get this working.

If someone whose BrianCArnold plugin is working is motivated to share some advice, a user manual, or even a screenshot of their configuration, I would be interested. Everything seems to be configured correctly on my end, but I don't see the intro video appearing.
    Thank you.

I am in the same boat. I have a local folder where the prerolls exist, but will not play before a movie starts. The movie starts right away. A user guide or something would be useful for us newbies. I also have moved over from Plex. But, I cannot comprehend the networking aspect of Jellyfin so I can watch movies outside of my Local network. Anyone has helpful advice in that area as well?

Never used that one, but this one works for me for local intros. I use it to preroll trailers.

I am having the same issues. Everything seems set up correctly. My intro mp4 file does not play at all. Movie(s) just starts.

I am using version 3.0.0.0 of the plugin on a basic install of Jellyfin 10.9.8 on a fully updated Windows 10 machine.

UPDATE: It just started working for me. Maybe it was the 10.9.9 upgrade, not sure.

UPDATE EDIT: They do not play on my AppleTV using Swiftfin.
