Hi, is there a way that users of my iellyfin can easily manage and watch their content that have downloaded, e.g. easy way to watch films whilst on a plane flight.

    Many thanks.

With the official client you can download media, but you have to use a separate player to watch the content. Not convenient. But there is a 3rd party app called Findroid that not only lets you download media, it has a download manager and offline mode. It gives you the option to either use exoplayer or MPV as the playback engine to maximize compatibility.

Findroid is only available for Android, btw. I'm not familiar with what is available on iOS.

Not a replacement, but an alternative. It has zero admin functions in it. Which is fine for end users. Also, Findroid only does video, no music. But there are dedicated music apps, like Finamp (FOSS) and Symfonium (paid). Both have download managers and offline modes.

Also, AFAIK, Findroid never requests a transcode. When using MPV this shouldn't be a problem for most codecs as Findroid will use CPU decoding if the hardware doesn't support accelerated decoding. But be aware that there are edge cases (DV7.6) and CPU decoding uses more battery.
