    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to repurpose an old Dell Wyse Cx0 thin client (C90LEW) as a Jellyfin server. I’ve already got a Jellyfin server running on a old laptop with Win 10. Unfortunately, it restarts at times due to windows updates and I am looking for a set and forget experience.
    Device Specs: https://www.parkytowers.me.uk/thin/wyse/cx0/
    • Processor: VIA Eden 1GHz
    • RAM: 2GB DDR2
    • Storage: 2GB Flash (can upgrade with USB or external storage)
    • Ports: USB 2.0, VGA, Ethernet
    Goals:
    1. Install a lightweight operating system capable of running Jellyfin. I have never used Linux, but willing to challenge myself to learn. If the machine is capable of running a stripped down version of Windows sans updates - that would be a win!
    2. Set up Jellyfin to stream to a few devices in my household.
    Issues and Questions:
    1. Operating System Recommendation:
      • What lightweight OS would you recommend for this hardware? Windows would be first choice but, open to suggestions
    2. Storage Expansion:
      • Since the internal storage is very limited, can I run the OS off a USB drive or external HDD? Would that significantly impact performance?
    3. Jellyfin Feasibility:
      • Is this hardware even capable of running Jellyfin for a small library?
    4. Installation Steps:
      • Any tips or walkthroughs for installing the OS and Jellyfin on such an old device?
    5. Performance Optimization:
      • Are there any specific tweaks or configurations I can apply to maximize performance on this hardware?
Any advice, resources, or personal experiences you could share would be greatly appreciated. I know this hardware is far from ideal, but I’m hoping to make the most of what I have!
    Thanks in advance!
    Cheers,

Do not use this thin client as a server. It has a 32-bit X86 processor and we only support 32-bit ARM CPUs. Even then, Jellyfin 10.10 will be the last version to support 32-bit ARM.
    Jellyfin 10.10.7 (Docker)
    Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS w/HWE
    Intel i3 12100
    Intel Arc A380
    OS drive - SK Hynix P41 1TB
    Storage
4x WD Red Pro 6TB CMR in RAIDZ1
