Export existing metadata to nfo

Hey all,

I have recently been trying to export all of my metadata and artwork for all of my existing shows and movies into the media folders themselves without making any changes to the data. Basically i want what the nfo metadata saver and "save artwork into media folders" setting give, but with no changes to my existing metadata. I have tried enabling the nfo metadata saver and "save artwork into media folders" settings, disabling all metadata providers so that no new data was grabbed, and doing a number of rescans/refreshes, but this did not seem to work. 

Any help here would be greatly appreciated, as i'm trying to make sure my collection is as portable as possible without having to do any more manual sorting if a drive fails or something.

I am not aware of a way to write existing metadata to NFOs. NFO saver would only trigger on new content and "replace all metadata".

Thanks for the quick response, are there any third party tools that could achieve what i'm looking for? Or is it possible to put in a feature request for something like this? I.e. A new option in the three dot menu like "write metadata to file" or something similar

I am not aware of a plugin to do that.

Did you make extensive changes to your metadata manually? If not, "replace all metadata" should retrieve the same metadata you already have.

I'm not an expert in Jellyfin's code, but I THINK Jellyfin will read existing metadata and images and write them to the media directory if you replace all metadata with all online providers disabled.

Yeah unfortunately i have made quite a few changes to episode orders etc.

I just tested the "replace all metadata" option with a small show that was easy for me to fix and it did download all the art but weirdly it removed the plot as well as messing up the order of all the episodes. Strange because i had all the metadata providers disabled (aside from image fetchers as i figured that would be fine), but yeah that doesn't really seem to do what I need.

Appreciate the help thus far though, genuinely. I've been banging my head against the wall on this one for a good while.

Is this an actual show or is this like a Youtube channel? Does this show have a TVDB or TMDB entry? Are you using a unusual episode order?

They are all actual shows with TMDB and TVDB entries but i hadn't realized that there was some ordering weirdness with tvdb vs. tmdb mainly with some anime/cartoons. I switched the metadata provider about halfway through populating my library and am not sure which are ordered for which provider, which is why i was hoping to get the data as is.

If you change the file names and manually sorted them to match the default "aired" ordering, you can set each series to use alternate orderings. Both TMDB and TVDB's API support alternate orders.
