This just started recently. When playing a show the video will stop (especially if I ff/rw/pause) and will not play again until I restart the fire cube. Force stopping the app does not help but when I restart the cube everything works like normal until it happens again. While this is happening I can go to another device and play the same show or any content that I want. If I pull out my cell phone everything works normally. If I go to a computer I can play high bitrate 4k content without skipping a beat but the fire cube will not play any videos through jellyfin until I reboot the device.

    Any ideas?

Clear the jellyfin app cache on your fire cube? Also check when FireOS last updated and see if that lines up with the issues you're seeing. Our app was updated to 0.17.6 two weeks ago as another reference point for you to use.

I think I cleared the app cache because it had to rebuild all the thumbnails but I will check the FireOS update.

As another datapoint I had no power for a week due to Hurricane Helene and this only started to happen after the power came back up but I dont think that has anything to do with the issue.
