Force clients to passthrough audio instead of transcoding

Can there be a way to force a client to accept and passthrough the audio so that it can be decoded downstream?

Right now, I have both a Roku device connected to a tv with a 5.1 soundbar, and a RokuTV that are rejecting AC3 audio and therefore requiring Jellyfin to transcode the audio, when the client TVs can either fully decode AC3 (TV w/ soundbar) or downmix to stereo (RokuTV) on its own.

I don’t believe this is a formal request feature, but am happy to make the request if asked, but wanted to at least kick off the discussion here.

You may need to make changes to the Roku's audio settings.

In the ROKU settings, Settings > Audio > Digital output format. Set that to Passthrough or Auto if it isn't already.

There is no passthrough option in this menu.  My options are either: Auto, Stereo, or Custom.  Under Custom, I can enable DTS, and enable Dolby Digital, where I can select a preference of DD or DD+. Sadly, playing with the options in the Custom menu screwed up watching content on other apps, as there was no audio at all, so I set it back to Auto.
