After I rip DVDs or Blu Rays, before I add them to my Jellyfin library, I always use Handbrake to compress them. The main settings I use are Audio passthrough so I keep the original audio unedited, and for Subtitles, I use Foreign Audio Scan with 'Forced Only' and 'Burn In', as well as retaining the proper subtitle channel should I want to turn subtitles on.

For the vast majority of situations, this works just fine with no issues. Maybe it's just because most videos don't have Foreign audio tracks. But some movies, for example, 'Air Force One', when a foreign language is being spoken, I get double captions when watching on Jellyfin on Kodi (Which is how I watch the overwhelming majority of the time). For example, at about 25:48 in the movie, they shout in Russian 'They're Landing'. And in some movies, the double captions overlap, while others, they don't unless they're multi-line.

But in this case, I first encoded it as I usually do. I got the double captions (with captions off). I tried encoding it with no foreign audio scan at all and I get no forced subtitles, but if I turn on subtitles, I see both English and Russian conversation, like the afore mentioned 'They're landing'. So I tried encoding with the foreign audio scan, but not with 'Burn In', and now, with subtitles off, I get nothing on Jellyfin web, but I do still get the captions for the Russian speech on Jellyfin on Kodi, but if I turn captions on, I don't get anything BUT the subtitles for the foreign language on both.

I just can't wrap my head around how to get the right outcome all around - Encode with Handbrake, have subtitles for spoken foreign language with subtitles off, and have subtitles for all with subtitles on, with no duplication.

Has anyone else seen this behavior and/or have any suggestions on how to get everything working as expected, and with the same behavior on both Jellyfin web and Jellyfin on Kodi?
