As the title says, I'm very confused about the support of HDR10+.

I have an OLED TV that supports HDR10+, a AVR that support HDR10+ pass-through and an HTPC with Windows 11 on board.

Till now I've used MPC with MADvr, and I haven't been able to enjoy HDR10+ content, but I've read online that Jellyfin can play and pass-through the HDR10+ metadata in Windows. Is that true?

As a new user, does a movie with HDR10+ is marked by a tag (or it simply marked as a "hdr") in the movie card in the app?

The standalone Jellyfin Media Player desktop app, which uses MPV, will direct play HDR10+ if the underlying hardware and operating system supports it. Jellyfin Media Player is not the same as the one if you access Jellyfin in a web browser.
    Jellyfin 10.10.7 (Docker)

    It's a yes?

I don't know if Windows supports it or not.

Yes. Jellyfin supports HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision.

    Then you should be fine.

    Report back with your results.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. HDR10+ doesn't work, nor HDR alone. No tag about HDR10+ (only a generic "4K HEVC HDR").

What do you mean by "HDR10+ doesn't work"? It isn't detected in Jellyfin or the TV isn't HDR? If you use the context menu and click "media info" it will detail which kind of HDR.

Also make sure that HDR is enabled in Windows.

Are you sure about this? Based upon my experience using the desktop player, JMP can only play HDR videos after tone-mapping them to SDR. I have visually compared the playback of an HDR file on JMP with playback on a player that I know supports native HDR playback, and have confirmed the aforementioned behavior to be accurate. Do let me know if I'm doing something wrong though!

I will have to double check when I get home. My setup isn't HDR capable to validate ACTUAL HDR-ness when I play an HDR video. But if a video direct plays in Jellyfin Media Player (no tone mapping happens server side), whether the rest of the chain honors the HDR-ness of a video is not caused by Jellyfin is my thinking.
