I'm using Jellyfin to stream TV channels (UK DVB-T2, if it matters) to Jellyfin.

I can watch various channels, but programmes that I know are subtitled don't show the subtitles in Jellyfin, and there's no option to turn them on.

I'm not sure whether I've misconfigured tvheadend, or whether Jellyfin's live TV player doesn't support subtitles.

    Has anybody got this working?

Jellyfin does not currently support any closed captioning format. BUT there is a PR, that hasn't been merged yet, that will add DVBSUB support. No ETA.

    https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/pull/16877

HOWEVER, for recordings you can use Jellyfin's post processing functionality to write a script that would extract the closed captions and convert them to SRT. You could either keep the original recording plus the SRT track that is written to a separate file or during the extraction process you could write a new file with the SRT track embedded.

    Debian 13 w/Xanmod amd64v3 LTS kernel
    AMD Ryzen 5500 w/32GB DDR4
    Intel Arc A380
    OS drive - SK Hynix P41 1TB
    ZFS Storage pool

        vdev2 - 3x WD Red Pro 18TB CMR in RAIDZ1

Thanks — I think I'll have to wait for the PR, as what I want is subtitles on live TV, and the post-processing sounds like it might only work for recordings.

I'm hoping this will just pass the subtitle stream to the player and not involve any transcoding to burn the subs in, as my server doesn't really have the grunt for that ATM (and I'd like to be able to turn them off in certain circumstances, too)
