    Hey,

    I've been using Jellyfin for a while now with no issues so far.
    Today I tried to import my music collection to Jellyfin, but I can't get my folder structure working so far..

    My folder looks like this:
    Music-->Playlists-->Folder1
    Music-->Playlists-->Folder2
    Music-->Playlists-->Folder3
    etc.

    Inside those folders there are all of my tracks I usually listen to. But when I add this library, Jellyfin does not use my folder structure and sorts them by album, etc.
    I just want to keep my playlists. Is that possible, or what am I doing wrong?

    Hey @firas1

    As far as i am aware and how its written in the documentation
    https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/music

    You are to order your media by Artist->Album->Track not by playlists. I am not aware of any feature that allows you to get playlists from the file structure.

    Hey, thanks for your answer.

    That would be pretty bad Slightly-frowning-face

    I don't have that kind of music library where I add a whole album for each artist.
    Inside my folders/playlists are hundreds of different songs from different artists and albums.

    When I am not able to add this folder structure inside Jellyfin, the Music library then is pretty useless for me Slightly-frowning-face

    I would guess that if the media files have sufficient metadata attached to them, you could also put them in the music folder directly but playlists are out of the question. Just not a feature of jellyfin.

    My media files have all the metadata.
    Is this something that can be implemented in future updates or am I the only one needing such a Playlist/folder feature?
    In times of Spotify, Tidal, etc. most of the people I know are adding there favorite songs in playlists?

    Dont get me wrong, jellyfin _does_ have playlists but not in the form of Folders on the filesystem. But i never heard of any feature like yours where playlists are to be imported from the filesystem, however seeing how jf currently handles the music files i would not make much sense to me. You can always check on features.jellyfin.org for it or create a new feature request. Or just build the feature yourself and PR it on github :-).

    I wish I could develop it for myself :-)

    Back in time when I used Plex, it was working this way, that it showed all of my tracks inside one folder inside one Playlist of Plex.
    I wish this would work in Jellyfin too.
    The other things to sort the music like Album etc. can still exist afterwards, but I think a lot of people would be happy to have all of their music inside one place where it should be, like opening them inside the Windows explorer

    This is also a feature I would really like - if anyone has any workarounds (even 3rd party apps for displaying / bulk-editing metadata to work with JF) I'd love to know.

    You can try out the folder view option and see if that fits your needs. You'll still have the main music library that is organized by artist/album, but it should provide a separate library that allows you to view by folder. Screenshot attached to show the option and context.

    Another workaround: Jellyfin understands .m3u playlist files, maybe you could manually create those for every folder?

    The format is pretty simple: just one file per line, so you could e.g. create
    Music-->Playlists-->Folder1-->Folder1.m3u
    containing

    Song1.mp3
    Song2.mp3

    Or alternatively
    Music-->Playlists-->playlists-->Folder1.m3u
    containing

    ../Folder1/Song1.mp3
    ../Folder1/Song2.mp3

    (I'm using Strawberry myself for managing playlists)
