    Hi --

I am trying to stream media files with Infuse on my Apple TV 4k from my Windows 11 PC. I can't seem to get Windows file sharing to work, so I am attempting to use Jellyfin. I have set up Jellyfin on my Windows 11 PC and it seems to be running properly. However, I am unable to setup the server with port forwarding because I do not have access to the router. I live in a high-rise apartment building which has a shared network. The speeds are excellent (fiber optic) but I have no ability to configure the router.

I understand from some Reddit posts that it is possible to set up a VPN on my PC that allows port forwarding. I am already subscribed to Private Internet Access (PIA). Is it possible to set up Jellyfin through PIA?

    Thanks!

NORMALLY, you would put in the LAN IP of the jellyfin server. You don't need port forwarding for local access.

But with your situation, I'd wonder if the building owners set things up to so that devices connected to the network can't talk to each other. Only go out to the Internet.

Just type in the IP address of the server into Infuse and see what happens.

No, you cannot setup your server through PIA.

    Okay, so following this guide:
    https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/quick-start/windows

I typed the IPv4 Address into Infuse along with the username and password established during setup.

    No luck.

    Any other options?

Check if you're allowed to have your own router. If so, get your own router and setup your own LAN and plug the router's WAN port into the building's network. I did this when I lived at my college's dorm for similar reasons.
