    Hi All,

I'm using the Jellyfin AndroidTV app on my Nvidia Shield Pro. Most of my movies contain embedded subrip subtitles which give me an "Unable to load" error on starting the movie. I'm aware of this issue on AndroidTV. Therefore i've installed the Subtitle Extraction plugin and let it run/scan my library. After a couple of hours it was done and i can see allot of files in the jellyfin/data/subtitles folder. (side question; some of them are 0KB is this normal)

So i asume the extraction worked. When i now play a movie with embedded subs it still gives me the "Unable to load" error. How do i select the extracted subtitles? And how to know if the extraction succeeded for a specific movie? And is there a way to only extract a specific language subtitle instead of all?

Hopefully someone can help me out!

Can you run the subtitle extract job and once it finishes share your jellyfin log via pastebin? 0KB srt files has me thinking something failed.

You can also try signing up for the Android TV beta. 0.18 has massive improvements for subtitle handling. 0.18 non-beta has been published for a week already, but Google has been slow to push it out to everyone.

Thanks for your quick reply! Maybe it could have something to do with scanning/adding a large library and extracting chapter images, while extracting subtitles, on an 15 year old homeserver (Pentium dual 😅). While i was testing with the AndroidTV Jellyfin app i missed some nice addon features from kodi, therefore i switched back to kodi but now combining it with the jellyfin kodi addon! This works like a charm and now i don't have any issues with subtitles.

So for now i'm not going to investegate any further why the subtitles extraction didn't work.

    Thanks again for your help/reply!
