I lost my server after the update

I am based on https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/installation/windows I received guidance on running the update and was also informed that my settings would be retained.
After the update was completed, I found that I had lost the entire server (with the media still retained) and could no longer log in
Only a new one can be created
How can I avoid this situation, otherwise I won't dare to update in the future

Your data is likely still there. Check C:\ProgramData\Jellyfin and C:\Users\yourUser\appdata\local\. One of those should have your server data. During the install process it should have mentioned which it is using.
