Hi, I have some hevc 10 files that get transcoded when trying to watch them on chrome or safari. I have an i7 8700 and that should be able to handle this stream but it transcodes at less than 20 fps. Is my cpu slow or is there an issue somewhere else?

that seems like a typical speed of a cpu transcode, you need to set up hardware acceleration https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/admini...celeration

the Intel UHD Graphics 630 igpu you have should be more than capable; https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/...tions.html

In theory I should have enabled it, is there a way to verify it?

This is the ffmpeg log https://pastebin.com/8UjGPi0z
do you also need the server log? it has my ip i'd rather not show

I noticed that if I disable the hardware encoding it gets slower, at around 3-4 fps

ffmpeg log should be good enough for now

    new questions
what OS is this installed in?
is docker or bare metal install?
can you change the transcoding method to VAAPI for comparison?

Jellyfin is running on linux ubuntu. I dont remeber how it was installed but it runs as a service on the host, not in any container. I changed it to vaapi and its 1 few fps slower then qsv

this is the vaapi logs https://pastebin.com/Fh9HjYa1

that is much (MUCH) slower than i would expect but it "looks like" it is using hardware acceleration

last thing to check, is Tonemapping enabled? if yes, compare with disabled
