    Hi everyone,

I have a large media library that contains several .nfo files. These files were useful in the past with another media center, but now that I'm using Jellyfin, I don't want it to read them, write to them, or use their metadata in any way.

I would simply like Jellyfin to completely ignore these .nfo files and generate its own metadata internally within its database.

Is there any way to achieve this? Is there a plugin available for this purpose?

I've already tried scanning the library, but Jellyfin still reads the .nfo files. I also tried enabling the NFO option in the library settings, hoping it would regenerate new local NFO files, but that doesn't seem to work either.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Have you tried deleting all the NFO files? If they are still present in the media folders I'm pretty sure JF or most other media scanners will default to the local information automatically. Kdi gives the option to ignore local files but that's through some specific actions.

    IMDb Top250 metadata
    Read Music Album Sort
Soundtrack link to movie by title/sort/Manual
Media info shows added to Collections

I wouldn’t want to delete the NFO files, I need them for other things. I’d just like Jellyfin to ignore them.
    I don’t use Kodi.

I think you'd need to explain why you need NFO files for other things, but not the regular scanning. It doesn't make sense to me since what is in the NFO is needed, but not all of it?
