    Hi,

I have a question: would it be possible and, in my opinion, much more beneficial to integrate or create a "Playback Reporting" plugin directly into the Jellyfin instance, as this is the only way to fully guarantee compatibility.

The Playback Reporting plugin has long had bugs that prevent backups from being created, and even if you manage to create one, it cannot be loaded anyway. Currently, it is not possible to delete saved records or add excluded clients for whom you do not want to track or save playback reports.

By integrating this feature directly into Jellyfin, compatibility and, most importantly, stable functionality would be ensured.

    Is it possible?

We've wanted to do this for over a year now but nobody has done it yet. Ideally the functionality the plugin offers would be made part of the server itself and the plugin can be made obsolete. That way we can also integrate the frontend for the plugin into jellyfin-web so it looks more consistent, and third-party clients like Jellyfin Rewind can use the data more easily.
