I found all the guides for installing Jellyfin onto Tizen were extremely out of date, and wanted to share the process I found with the community.

    The process:
    1. Enable developer mode and set the Developr's Host PC IP address to your PC's IP address using the official Samsung guide
    2. Download the latest TizenBrew Device Manager for your OS from the releases page
    3. Install / Run TizenBrew Device Manager, go into "Connect Device" page and connect to your TV using its LAN IP address.
    4. Download the right Jellyfin package from the releases page
    5. After connecting to your TV, go into the "Apps" page and click "Install App" button, select the package you just downloaded and then click "Install". You should see an alert showing the logs. The logs should say that the app has been installed now.
    6. That's it! You're done!

    Hello @Derailtor,
    Thanks for this guide.

    For me, doesn't work.
Step 5, i have this error : "Check certificate error : invalid certificate chain with certificate in signature"

    Any idea ?

Here is our official guide. Perhaps step number 3 is what you need to do. Setting up the Tizen certs.

    https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-tiz...ng-started

Then you can try redoing Derailtor's guide.
    Jellyfin 10.10.7 (Docker)
    Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS w/HWE
    Intel i3 12100
    Intel Arc A380
    OS drive - SK Hynix P41 1TB

I know that this thread is a couple weeks old now, but when you connect to the TV, does the IP need to remain static?

I have a friend who uses my Jellyfin and I'm trying to find a scenario that works on his TV other than a streaming stick or casting option. Manually adding Jellyfin to the Samsung TV sounds like the best option, but only if he will be able to connect to my server without any extra steps outside of this installation.

The TV's IP does not matter. YOUR server's IP needs to remain static or you need to acquire a domain or DDNS address (free options available) and setup auto-updating if your IP does change. Most residential ISPs rarely change your IP, but it can happen.

This is in addition to setting up port forwarding on your router at a minimum. We also recommend using a reverse proxy and acquiring certs for HTTPS (domain or DDNS address required).

I've played around with various installation methods and found the easiest process for myself was to follow (only) the builds steps of the official jellyfin/jellyfin-tizen repo and do all other steps (.wtg file creation, certificate creation and app deployment) through the new and admittedly refreshingly simple official Tizen VS Code extension:

    build steps:
    • https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-tiz...-interface

    * deprecation notice for Tizen Studio: https://docs.tizen.org/application/vscode-ext/index

    VS Code extension
    • https://docs.tizen.org/application/vscod...en/dotnet/
    • a new Tizen icon will appear in the VS Code sidebar, within that you can create a new project, very easily create a certificate for your Samsung account, build the .wtg file, connect to the TV and deploy to it!

    Hi, Waving-hand

This note of me is a little bit unrelated, but I want to help others who fail to install the client by mentioning the option of using DLNA.
This way it will look like you added a thumb drive to your TV and you can watch the movies that way.
A proper client is in many ways better, but while I didnt manage to install the client, I was able to setup DLNA quite quickly as a noob.
Jellyfin has a plugin for DLNA or your you can do it on OS-level. (I did the latter in OMV).

I am sorry to chime in with no help for installing the client, but it would have saved me a few hours if I knew this was an option.
So maybe by writing this here, I can help someone.

    Best Regards
