    Jellyfin Version: 10.8.12
Install method : normal .exe installation
Hi guys, i am very new to Jellyfin, i just got my new small server having an Intel Celeron G5905 with UHD 610 which should be able to handle HEVC 10-bit without any problems, however i am having problems with HEVC encoding, i am using Windows 10, most of my files are 4k HEVC 10-bit HDR mp4/mkv.
I have Intel QuickSync selected in the Hardware Acceleration tab, here's my settings
Direct play works just fine but when i force the transcode selecting a lower resolution/bitrate it only encodes in H264, i can see that the iGPU is working but i don't understand why it only encode to h264
    here's the transcode log
    What could the problem be?

I tried with 3 clients, my desktop using chrome as browser, my android smartphone using the jellyfin app and my LG C1 using WebOS using jellyfin app, all 3 are capable of HEVC direct play.

chrome browser is not capable, already reported and confirmed
lg webos is a web wrapper
android can be subjective based on what it is

none of those have concrete affirmative hevc support, try installing jellyfin media player for windows or use kodi which both should support what you are wanting https://jellyfin.org/downloads/clients

I am now using the Desktop client but it still encodes to h264 giving "Reason for transcoding The video's bitrate exceeds the limit" but i haven't set any bitrate limit, not globally, not per user settings

In JF 10.8 it cannot play HEVC due to HLS.js limitations. The latest HLS.js gained HEVC/AV1 support and you can try it in JF 10.9.
