iOs app not connecting to local server

Tried doing that, nothing helps. I can access my server from safari, swiftfin works, streamyfin works, and if i host the jellyfin server from my laptop, it will work if i use the ip adress to add the server. If the erver is running on yunohost, it will not. Somebody told me it cannot work with self signed certs so that may be the culprit

I had a similar issue but finally got it to work.

my setup:
docker container for jellyfin
adguard home doing dns rewrite for 196.168.0.x for device jellyfin is running on

logging into firefox on iphone i could use either the IP address of http://192.168.0.x:8096 or http://hostname.lan:8096 but when using the app i had to use the hostname version. I don't have HTTPS or any cert so that wasn't it for me, at least.

After I toggled on in Apps:

ALLOW JELLYFIN TO ACCESS
Local Network

The  app was able to connect to my local server. And toggling it back off had no effect, I can still access the server. So weird!

Similar issue.

Steps I took to overcome. (YMMV)

Jellyfin IOS client was previously working. I moved the server to a new address. 
IOS client hung on launch - I could not overcome. Removed app.
Reinstalled app.
Would not find server at http://jellyin:8096
Tried multiple options jellyfin.lan etc.
There was no entry under privacy and security -> local network - jellyfin.

Switched to IP address. 192.168... etc
Now the app asked for local network access.
The IP address now worked and connected to server.
Logged out and removed server config in app 

Tried DNS again - now works on http://jellyfin.lan:8096
