I have a few anime, but they are showing up as folder so I cannot even use "identify" to update the metadata. Is there any way to force this to get metadata that can be updated by the identify method? I tried restarting jellyfin, forcing re-scan from the dashboard. I  also have the anilist and anidb plugins installed. Any help? TIA

Is it possible that the library has the wrong content type or that its name is not in the "film (year)/film (year).ext" format?
Create a new library with content type Movies and move the media into the library folder "your new library folder/film (year)/film (year).ext" and see if this works.

Could you share how you set up the anime library? I'm thinking it's as @ThomasPGH states that it's set up as the wrong category. Though unless you're dealing with anime movies, you'll need to use the show library type.

sorry I am new to this forum style. I wanted to make a reddit post but its restricted. Also can you please elaborate on the .ext part?

So format for one Anime is like this,

    Anime
    - EP0,
    - EP1
    ....

    Another one is like this
    Naruto
    - Season 1
    - - - EP0

    - Season 2
    - - - EP0

Certain anime in both are not found. But strangely a few Anime in both those format are found.

Here is one that might give problems

    Stiens Gate
    - Steins Gate 0
    - - - EP1

    - Steins Gate
    - - - EP 1

    - Stiens Gate Movie
    - - - Movie

We need specific, actual, file name examples. Both working examples and not working examples. Full path, full folder names, full file names.

Yeah, don't do that.  The mixed library is a legacy feature and is poorly supported.  We strongly recommend using separate show and movie libraries.  If your online metadata source says something is a Special, that can go with the show in a Specials sub folder.

If you need things to go together for organization purposes, use collections.

Regardless, specific folder and filenames would aid in further diagnosing if separating the content doesn't help.

    @TheDreadPirate

Hmm you are right, I set it up as Shows only and now it's working fine. It identifies all shows and even the movies too. If any other problems arise I would just make a new folder called Anime Movies and move them there.

I didn't want to do that since there are some Movies related with some series. For example Naruto has a series and a bunch of movies. I would have preferred to keep them all in one folder.

You will almost certainly need to make a separate Anime Movies folder for actual movies.

If you want to keep stuff together, use Collections to keep related content together.

@TheDreadPirate can I make collections from two different locations. Such as /anime and /anime_movies and keep the collection in /anime in jellyfin? I hope that was clear.

Also I am using docker in synology NAS. Do you know of a way i can keep the settings I made so in case I have to reset or reinstall I would not have to do this again?

    Thank again for your help!
