I will preface by saying this is a repeat post, but maybe people browse here a bit more often than troubleshooting. Sorry, but my conversion project is on hold at the same time so Confused-face
I have been converting files for my Jellyfin server, and seeing how it is running on a raspberry pi I am doing all the transcoding prior. I have everything set as the vastly supported file types (H.264, MP4, Srt subs, etc.) But for whatever reason Jellyfin is reading the files as MKVs and forcing a container transcode. Windows shows these as MP4s so I am not sure where its pulling the MKV file type from.

Post your ffmpeg logs from Dashboard > Logs. You can also find the transcode reason in the logs or from the dashboard in the card that shows up when you're actively playing the media (click the info icon on the card, it shows whether it's direct playing or transcoding and why).

My apologies, I have been doing some trials and found where I went wrong. Part of my transcoding process involves using MKVTOOLNIX to add the subtitles back in to the newly transcoded .mp4, and they defaulted to saving as .mkv instead of the source format. Just an oversight on my part. Ran some quick converts in handbrake and subtitle additions while typing .mp4 in the new output file on MKVTOOLNIX and they are reading correctly now. Appreciate the response though.
