Hi, I'm a complete newbie when it comes to Jellyfin. A friend of mine has a Jellyfin server that I'm allowed to access remotely. I access it via my Fire TV Stick, but only via the Amazon Silk browser, not via the Jellyfin app. When I go through Jellyfin and enter the DNS address (https://jellyfin***.com) it says that remote access is not possible. Is there a beginner's guide to what I need to set up on my router etc. so that I can access remotely via the Jellyfin app. I know there has been a lot of discussion about this, but perhaps there is an easy-to-follow guide. Thanks in advance. Thomas

Is your friend's server using a legit cert or a self signed cert?

You, as a client, don't need to change anything on your side. Do you know what version of Jellyfin your friend is running? And what version of Android OS your Firestick is running? And what specific model you have.

My friend is not at home, he says he has the latest Jellyfin version. I have 2 Fire TVs (Fire OS 5.2.9.5 (688805020) - 2nd Gen) and Fire OS 7.6.8.1 (PS7681/4391 - 3rd Gen). Does that answer your questions?

When you do access it from the browser, are there any warnings about the certs?

Everything works in the browser without warning messages...
