    Hey everyone !

    -Description of the issue
Even when left idle, after two or three weeks, Jellyfin server starts using all the RAM it can find on my machine (4GB out of 8GB).

    -Version of Jellyfin
    10.8.10

    -Installation method and platform
    Debian repository

-What client(s) you are using and how the issue manifests
I connect with the official Jellyfin apps for Windows and Android. I also use the website version sometimes.

-Any other context you might think is relevant
Other than filling up the RAM, everything works fine. My server gets somewhat slower, but it still makes room if I need something else.

The RAM gets cleared if I restart the Jellyfin service. A computer repairman and system administrator that I know said that all I need to do then is set-up a cronjob to restart it, but this solution feels like a band-aid, and I just want to be sure. Have I overlooked something ? Do I have a "proper" solution, so to speak ?

    Thanks in advance ^_^

Apps, in general, will use as much RAM as the OS allows them to. A lot of the time, the consumed memory is for caching. And this is true for Jellyfin as well.

My server, after a fresh reboot, is using about 800MB of RAM. Memory usage over days and weeks usually creeps up to ~2.5GB, pretty much all of that increase is Jellyfin. I don't notice any slow down, but I'm only running JF and samba so it isn't doing a lot.

Your system shouldn't feel slower just from 50% memory usage, though. When you look at top are there any processes using a lot of CPU time? What about iotop? Anything using the disk when you notice these slow downs?

What are your full server specs?
    Jellyfin 10.10.3 (Docker)
    Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
    Intel i3 12100
    Intel Arc A380
    OS drive - SK Hynix P41 1TB
    Storage
