My Emby, 2020 last update, still works great but I'm constantly trying to switch to jellyfin and hoping this is the one. Over 30tb of media so unless file naming has changed with 12.0....Trying next library here shortly.

So the answer's no? I know it's frustrating, but the scanner behaves in REALLY WEIRD ways sometimes, and if you don't follow the documented file structure, this is going to happen to you.

I'm new at forums so apologies if this is wrong place to respond etc. Will do as directed, with direction. So the answer is yes. Filenames are as clean and straightforward as can be and exactly as attached doc links require. Under seasons on many shows, am continuing to see nothing , even when the episode number on show poster is correct.

I do have my libraries split so one is sitcoms another is BBC shows etc. Will try with tv library next as that is straightforward but very large. Maybe its not supporting multiply show libraries. Recent emby also seemed to ignore sitcoms library altogether....

Please advise how to move this chat if necessary. I was just interested in testing 12.0 and sharing my experiences, as no jellyfin had been workable for me prior and I spent a hundred hours trying to get it to work. .. seriously.. (jellyfin had always properly read all libraries previously, just hung for hours on every mouse click)

You can start a separate thread in troubleshooting.  Though, we do need actual examples of how you've configured the library paths and how you've named and organized your content.  Despite you saying that your content is compliant with our documentation, the problem you're describing sounds like it isn't.  So, before we proceed with other troubleshooting steps, we need to address and verify the most common cause of your problem.

Thanks Dimie that’s sounding really positive, especially point 4 about home videos and photos! Are you able to test this with any images at all? This being such a mess in 10.11 meant upgrading wasn’t an option but seems like a lot of work has been done to not only bring it back up to 10.10.7 levels but to exceed them!

    I can’t wait for a final release Smiling-face

    Quote:Either way AMAZING progress

Damn I'm really not seeing that, but hoping for some boosts in the next RC.

10.10.7 time to load "Movies" page using curl
    real 0m0.149s
    user 0m0.004s
    sys 0m0.004s

12rc1 time to load "Movies" page using curl
    real 2m8.205s
    user 0m0.006s
    sys 0m0.005s

    2nd attempt
    real 2m10.508s
    user 0m0.012s
    sys 0m0.018s

Sometimes it seems pretty fast (loads in about 2secs) and sometimes the whole dashboard (not just the movies) is just locked up for endless amount of time (spinning wheel). Log files show nothing. There is no ffmpeg streams running and jellyfin is just using 100% of a single core with zero network bandwidth being used.

    Edit 1
Eventually the UI will time out with the message

    "Server Unavailable

We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again."

    Edit 2
So actually jellyfin seems fine whenever the main thread isn't locked. There is something that is running or set off by something that is locking the main thread in the docker and then the UI becomes unresponsive for 2-3 minutes or longer in some cases. When this happens, ffmpeg will continue to transcode a movie perfectly but playback will pause in the client until the thread has finished doing whatever.

    Edit 3
When this happens, the only disk IO is jellyfin reading jellyfin.db. I had setup ionotify to monitor all the directories it has acccess to and i all i see is ACCESS every second to the db file. No network activity, no resizing images for the cache, nothing else. Seems like a bug.

Quote:What do your real values (2min+) represent?

Unfortunately 2mins+ to load pages, but as mentioned in one of my edits, this doesn't seem to be a performance issue per say, but a bug where the main UI thread is locked doing ........something

Quote:In any way the main part my "amazing" was focusing on and sorry if it didn't come accross

Oh no, im pumped for the performance increases and ready to move on from 10.10.7 honestly. I think they are fixed, just there is another bug as mentioned above.

Quote:In any way - we see actual touchable progress on that deal breaker issue on jellyfins future roadmap.

    Exactly, which is great

Quote:I think there was a post somewhen back about the 10.11.x BETA which talked about how not many people were testing and giving feedback

Unfortunately the performance bugs were known in August i believe. Maybe even 2 weeks before release, there were comments on github how perhaps it shouldn't be released in this state (10.11). I support the developers but sometimes the releases are just......i dunno. Take this RC version, the docker doesn't even work on a fresh install, how can this be a possible release candidate if it doesn't even install fresh? It's a beta not RC.

Here's hoping to a better RC2 and if there is anything i can do, to try and find the lock issue on the main thread, somebody let me know.

Works with Safari and Vivaldi browsers, but no login screen in Firefox ESR. I think dev teams needs to make sure Firefox ESR gets priority testing for Javascript etc.

There is a known issue when accessing RC1 from a browser that has never accessed a RC1 instance.

A fixed has been merged that will be included in RC2.

Who has woken me from my slumber? What is this I hear of a new server release?
I complain about Jellyfin a lot and have no idea what I'm doing.
