Jellyfin Server/Web release: 12.0 RC4

Is this the first scan after upgrading to RC4? It could take a while depending on what cleanup and new tasks need to be done. Subsequent scans should be faster.

Just tested RC4 and here are my impressions. For starters the performance is not there when streaming movies or life tv.
I keep downgrading to 10.10.7 backup. This is snappy. Second, and this is my big beef - why transcode streams with HE AAC?

When you say the performance isn't there and that 10.10.7 is "snappy" what do you mean exactly? Is there a [longer] delay during some specific action or sequence, or lag during playback or something? I'm just curious so that I can try and do the same comparison between versions.

No this is for scans I do after the main 1st scan also applies to people scans aswell. Running on windows 11

Oh I see. There must be something in your library which doesn't migrate correctly to the new database architecture and gets bogged down during updates/scans. For me on 10.11.11 clicking 'Scan All Libraries' takes under a minute, basically the same as 10.10.7. Almost everything is on SSDs for me though, so that might be part of the reason.

But are arbitrary background update speeds a good reason to hold your server back to soon deprecated versions?

Start a thread in troubleshooting and provide your JF12 logs via pastebin.

Sometimes yes!  Imagine getting a new movie and not being able to view it for 6 hours, due to Jellyfin taking so long to pick it up.

This is way outside the norm. I have new movies placed all the time and they're picked up nearly instantly. I also have library scans in under a few minutes. I'm not on SSD (for the media) either.

1. When starting to play a movie, RC4 takes longer bring up the first screen (local and remote test)
2. When playing Live TV streams it take longer to start streams in RC when transcoding. 
 Note: These are tests with Firefox ESR client and iphone OS - both local and remote.

With the RC I noticed that starting the live stream many times the screen would flash and live screen then goes black. This happens few times before the stream is finally playing.
This I noticed is happeining in cases where original audio is HE-ACC and Jellyfing decides to transcode the stream. This however is unnecessary and the same stream in 10.10.7 is remuxed.
I logged that in github but some developer marked it as "insufficient data" so I do not expect this to be fixed anytime soon.

In my experience RC4 is not bad for the media scanning from the web browser, I can scan my library in less than 10 minutes, but it's still very slow if I use Symphonium and scannning the music library for, around 45K tracks, it takes still some hours with Jellyfin (I use also Navidrome it scan all in less than 2 minutes).
If I understand correctly these changes are not yet implemented on RC4?
