Jellyfin SynoCommunity Version: HW acceleration & Config file?

Hi,

I am just wondering if the SynoCommunity version would be fitting better for me as a 100% noob.
Especially 2 details I am curious about:

• Could I (easily) backup the config folder or even better:link it to an own one like I do for the docker version?
  
• As this is natively installed, does it have instant access to hardware acceleration without all these steps to pass-through the GPU?

IMO, I'd avoid any community packages for the server. They lag behind official releases by an unknown margin. Like now, the latest release is 10.9.8 but the latest synocommunity version is 10.9.7. Looks like they stilled 10.9.0 thru .5.

I've seen users experience weird issues with their synocommunity installs that I'm not able to replicate in my vanilla docker setup.

Using Synology's Docker capability is not that much more difficult, will guarantee the portability of Jellyfin's data should you migrate to a plain Linux PC running Docker, and you'll always be running the latest release if you choose to.

Sure, the original version is better.
But I am totally struggeling with the pass through for HW acceleration, and as the community version is directly installed, I am wondering if this makes HW access easier.

The community version is, AFAIK, a wrapper around the official image.

What exactly are you struggling with regarding GPU pass-through? Are you having issues on the docker side of things or the jellyfin side of things?

What have you tried so far?

My issue is, that these guides sound like "at first, build a rocket, fly to the Mars" stc.
I just want to pass through a piece of hardware and need to setup reverse proxies and so on???

You do not need to make a reverse proxy to pass Jellyfin some hardware. Reverse proxies are for external access to the server.

Did you follow the guide I shared on one of your other threads? Using the Docker compose file I shared there and uncommenting out the device line is enough to pass Jellyfin the iGPU of the Synology NAS.

It didn’t appear to offer HW acceleration when I used it. I swapped to the Docker version set up through Container Manager so I could get the HW acceleration working.
