IIRC some distro's older amdgpu firmware may cause decoding issues on RDNA2.

Is there any chance to update the firmware and update the linux kernel to 6.1/6.6 LTS?

Currently I am on Linux Mint 21.3, and I also don't really know how to do that. However, I would be willing to run the commands once I get back from my trip.

You could also upgrade your install to Mint 22, which would upgrade the kernel and AMD firmware.

Will upgrading to LM 22, cause any sort of problems that I should know of?

Keep in mind that upgrading from 21.3 to 22 is pretty much "apt upgrade+++". It's not like upgrading Windows where it is almost completely overhauling and replacing everything. Linux upgrades are mostly just upgrading versions of packages you already have installed.

I updated from Ubuntu 22.04 to 24.04 seamlessly earlier this year. Took less than 30 minutes, IIRC.

Hey, so I was looking on the website on what GPUs you guys recommend, and it says AMD is not recommended. Why is that?

Primarily quality. And especially for pre-RDNA GPU inconsistent performance and codec support between models.

So, here we are again. Now the transcoding just dosent want to work again. (Mind you, for some reason, I had to re-install jellyfin so that was strange)

I am an idiot. I forgot to enable tone mapping.

But now we are back to it glitching!
