    Hi, first time posting.

    Using Jellyfin version: 10.8.9

    Installed onto an iMac.

I recently bought an external hardrive, and wanted to move all of my jellyfin files onto it so that I could eventually move it easily to a differnt device down the line.

While I was transferring the .cache and metadata from my mac and changing the location of where to get that info on my server it stopped working and now I can't get into my server at all.

    Not sure what I'm doing.

    Log attached.

When you say your cache and metadata, you mean from Jellyfin's data directory?

As for the log you attached, it looks fine, though. It started up and is listening on all interfaces.

Yes from Jellyfin's data directory. I had moved it to the external HDD and was in the process of changing the directories in the Jellyfin settings but it disconnected and I am now unable to log onto the server.

And you've tried moving them back to their original location? Were you moving them or copying them when this happened? I'm assuming you were moving the files while Jellyfin was running.

I was copying. I had successfully copied and changed directory of the cache, but then didn't get the metadata and was trying to give jellyfin permission to the HDD when it stopped working. Yes jellyfin was running. I think the metadata now has the correct directory for the HDD but not the permission to access it but I can't get in to give it access.

You can try editing the system.xml file and restoring the cache and metadata path to the original directories until you resolve the permissions issue?

I don't know where that would be located in a mac install. Somewhere in /Users/frankferris/.local/share/jellyfin?

Thanks for that that appears to have worked. I'm new to all this and am hoping to upgrade my set-up to something much handier but going to take a lot of troubleshooting along the way.
