hey, i just migrated from PLEX to Jellyfin. so far so good, but what really bumps my head is, that whenever I add content to my media library, the content isn't automatically updated in real time (like Plex), it seems to wait for a scheduled task which runs every 12 hours.

So I checked my library settings and in the admin console under "Libraries" and the Movie and TV Library I have "enable real time monitoring" on.
but new content  is not showing up in real time.

I use all the latest updates regarding software on a Debian server. I gave all the correct permissions. when I manually scan the libraries, the content shows up afterwards instantly.

Is your media library shared to Jellyfin over SMB or NFS? Both do not support Real Time Monitoring.

No. They are connected via USB3 and USB2 to my Debian home server

I have the same problem but am using RAR2FS to mount the drive. I've read online that RAR2FS mounts do not support real-time monitoring. There is, however, one person who mentions how to work around this issue. I need to clarify his actions, but maybe someone here understands?

For now, I am using scheduled tasks inside Jellyfin every 15 minutes to check the library.

From what I read from the link you shared, nobody presented an actual solution.

The only suggestions from that thread are to point your libraries to a folder instead of a drive letter (on Windows), and to try using unc paths: https://kb.blackbaud.com/knowledgebase/a...icle/48745
