media scan not working?

Hi,

I'm new to Jellyfin 10.11.6 on an 17 years old ubuntu 24.04. At first, I set upd 2 libraries (a) and (b) and got the scan done with scrapers a) "themoviedb" and "the open movie database" for the first library and b) "thetvdb", "themoviedb" and "the move database" for the second. 

The scan was completed, although the numbers of media found was about 5 times the amount of media files I actually have.

But I needed to split one library, so I removed it and set it up again. The change: At first approach, I added 1 directory, which has 8 sub-directories. But I want only 7 of those in my library, so in the second approach, I added directly only those 7 sub-directories.

But now, whenever I scan it, I get only a 1/20 of the amount there is. Everything else is missing. Did retry the scan several times, even without the scraper plugins, to no avail. 

When I check the "mediadata-manager", it looks like all is there, but when accessing the media, I see only 1/20th.

Any idea, did I miss something?

Also, minor sidequest: I tried Apply TV with infuse and jellyfin/swiftfin. Infuse had no issues connecting while swiftfin always threw some error about not being able to establish connection.

Well there been some issue with v10.11.5 and .6 Try just scanning with theopenmovieDB uncheck everything else and reboot and scan. themovidDB and TVBD have been causing issue for some. This should get your shows to shop up if this is your problem. i have gotten about 99% of all my movie artwork to show up this way but still have problems with TV shows only getting about 50% of the artwork to show up. If you have anime use AniDB add on and you will get all movie and tv shows from it.

I'll try. But somehow I got the impression, it's about the scanning process itself - not starting correctly or similar.

In the first run, I did get all those metadata for basically all media - looked good and even the counter was about 5 times as high as there are actuall media - and it's still there in the metadata-viewer, but the library itself looks rather empty and shows only very few files from various directories.

Yes, the are named in a style so at least in the first run, the metadata scrapper could get plenty information.

What to you mean by style. there are many styles but only a few work. some people try using actors names and other try sorting by watched and unwatched but this does not work. here what jellyfin recommends.

Wondering if there is any more information on this yet? I am having the same issue and can't fix it. I have gotten it to fully scan correctly a couple times, but when I add new movies/shows it doesn't fetch the metadata. Then if I try to refresh/replace the metadata, I lose everything again.

I tried changing to only openmovieDB like suggested, but it didn't help.

For filenames I use 'My_Movie_2026.mp4' or 'Show_2026' -> 'Season_01' -> 'S01E1.mp4'. This has always worked for me in the past, and has continued to work, occasionally...

Is there any known fix for this or other workaround, or should I install an older version of Jellyfin? If so, do we know what the last stable version was?
