Media Segments (Plugin) - do I want to use it?

as far as i understand, the media segments plugin could provide something similar to an intro skipper (working together with the new android tv release)
BUT...do i understand correctly, that it only works if the intro is effectively marked as intro? because i doubt, that my dvd's had intros and outros marked as such

what are the prerequisites to use the media segments effectively?

Media segments is essentially a mechanism to do enable simpler skipping implementations. But it relies on there being chapters and that the chapter names are named properly.
