metadata manager not loading?

hello, in my test windows server, with just a handful of videos, the metadata manager is not loading, just showing this spinning loading text forever. So far there's nothing I need to edit, but this isn't normal right?

just to confirm, with the default option of the metadata saver not set to Nfo, jellyfin will never modify or add anything to my library folders?

is there an easier way to use vlc to play in both windows and mac beside copy-paste the stream url? (im too familiar with vlc and wish to stick with it if possible)

Replicate your issue with the metadata manager and then upload your log to pastebin or sourcebin. Redact any WAN IPs and usernames.

The only times Jellyfin has modified any metadata for manually identified media was when I told it to (replace all metadata scan type). I haven't experienced Jellyfin changing metadata unprompted. My Jellyfin install is pretty vanilla so keep in mind that 3rd party plugins might change that behavior.

Jellyfin is meant to be played with Jellyfin web or Jellyfin Media Player (and a couple other 3rd party clients). VLC does support DLNA, but DLNA sucks, is obsolete, was abandoned by the consortium that made it, and you shouldn't use it.

The log looks fine. I wasn't able to replicate this problem on my Linux or Windows server instances. Tried fiddling with permissions, etc.

Is this a basic install or service install?

it's a default install, not a service. the only thing I changed was the server data location. maybe i shouldnt put them in my document. ill try a new install with the default locations tonight...
