I've been using Jellyfin with a VPN for years now I allowed Jellyfin through my VPN using split tunneling and never really had an issue.
The other day I noticed metadata wasn't downloading properly I and I realised that it was whilst my VPN was connected but when my VPN isn't connected it can download metadata from TMDB and TVDB perfectly fine.
I'm running Jellyfin 10.11.11 on Windows 11. I'd appreciate any help.

    Thanks in advance,

Can you share your server logs via pastebin?

I'm not entirely sure what is going on, but in addition to your VPN I also see 4 private LAN addresses. I'm wondering if Jellyfin is just having a hard time figuring out how to get out to the Internet. What's with all the 192.168 addresses?

    Code:
    [2026-07-16 09:51:19.155 +01:00] [INF] [92] Jellyfin.Networking.Manager.NetworkManager: Filtered interface addresses: ["169.254.83.107", "100.84.167.172", "192.168.56.1", "192.168.0.41", "192.168.42.1", "192.168.153.1", "127.0.0.1"]
    .....
    [2026-07-16 09:51:29.693 +01:00] [ERR] [39] MediaBrowser.Providers.Manager.ProviderManager: "TmdbMovieImageProvider" failed in GetImageInfos for type "Movie" at "D:\Downloads\Films\Locked (2025) [1080p] [BluRay] [5.1]\Locked.2025.1080p.BluRay.x264.AAC5.1.mp4"

I'm not 100% sure to be honest how do I figure that out?
okay well I do know that 192.168.0.41 is my local IP that I've port forwarded

You'd have to go to the control panel to see what network interfaces are enabled.

    Debian 13 w/Xanmod amd64v3 LTS kernel
    AMD Ryzen 5500 w/32GB DDR4

What's with all the virtual machine interfaces? Do you have any VMs running?

You could try configuring Jellyfin to only bind to a specific address.

Dashboard > Networking > Bind to local network address > Enter 192.168.0.41

    Then restart Jellyfin.

Okay I've done that but it still isn't able to access tmdb when the vpn is on https://pastebin.com/hxKvnq6k
it has also stopped the server being accessible via localhost (not really an issue just thought I should mention in case it's important)

On your server, open a command prompt or power shell and type "nslookup api.themoviedb.org".
