Same problem here. It stucks at 1 from 19. The CPU does nothing. I use Windows 11. But i dont know where my database is saved.

The biggest problem is that I couldn't back up the database because Windows decided to render Jellyfin inoperable after an update.
Since I'd always been able to perform upgrades without any problems up until then, I figured I'd just upgrade to the new version of Jellyfin. Then it should work again. But no. Now nothing is working at all.

And yes, i have any plugins (screenshot)

The database is in the "data" folder located one folder up from your plugins folder.

    C:\ProgramData\Jellyfin\Server\data\jellyfin.db

If you want to start fresh, just delete this entire "Jellyfin" folder. The migration should have created a backup of the database, a .bak file, that you can try restoring.

Thank you. But there is no backup file- The only backup file in the folder is a "library.db.bak1" file. But no jellyfin.db.bak

If you're referring to this error
System.InvalidOperationException: There is an error in XML document (30, 35).

---> System.InvalidOperationException: Instance validation error: '' is not a valid value for EncoderPreset.

I already cleared that error and it did not change the behavior.

I did some more testing yesterday. I can't get Jellyfin to start at all. I cleared the cache folder. I tried reinstalling version 10.11.11 over the existing version. I also tried several times to get version 12 to work. And I let the startup process run all night. Jelly is still stuck at the same point. If there’s no solution, then the latest update has completely ruined my Jellyfin. Apparently, there’s no automatic backup feature—or at least it didn’t work in my case. Extremely frustrating.

One more thing I’m curious about: What data is stored in the Jellyfin.db file?

    Logfile is from 12.0 Upgrade:

In our blog post we explicitly stated to make a manual backup of your Jellyfin folder. Yes, the database migration process creates a temporary backup of the database file, but all other changes made during the migration process are not preserved. Also stated in the blog was to disable all 3rd party plugins, and it appears several are still enabled.

Installing 10.11.11 over a 12.0 install would only make things works since database migrations are one way.

The database contains watch status, your users and their passwords, and metadata.
