MuseVu - a cinematic Jellyfin client for Android TV, phone and tablet

Hi everyone! Over the past months I've been building MuseVu, a third-party Jellyfin client focused on a truly cinematic lean-back experience on Android TV — it runs on phones and tablets too.

Highlights:

• Moving billboard previews and trailers while you browse
• Continue watching with auto next episode
• Adaptive quality: it detects weak or older TVs and asks the server for a stream the device can actually decode, so it stays smooth on cheap hardware
• 8 UI languages, Quick Connect login, per-user audio/subtitle language memory
• Privacy: no accounts, no tracking — the app only talks to your own server

It's free on Google Play with an optional Pro tier (offline downloads, casting, PiP) that funds development. Fire TV, LG webOS and Samsung Tizen versions are currently in testing.

I've also opened a PR to get MuseVu listed on the jellyfin.org clients page. I'd genuinely love feedback and feature requests from this community — and if you try it on an older TV, I'm especially curious how it runs.

But profiles and other features that are already available for free in multiple 3rd party Jellyfin clients, you put behind a paywall....why dude why?  I was going to give it a try but after seeing that on your website, either a monthly subscription or a one time.  

You're taking too many pages from the plex playbook, yeah I said it.

Fair criticism, and I appreciate you saying it straight.
Let me be honest about the model: MuseVu is built by one developer, with no ads, no tracking, no accounts and no data to sell — the app itself is the only thing that funds its development. So some comfort features are paid. That's the trade-off I chose over the alternatives.
But there's a line I won't cross, and it's exactly the one that makes Plex feel bad: paying to unlock access to your own media. Watching your library in MuseVu is completely free — full quality, all your users, continue watching, search, previews, no limits — and that stays free. Pro is extra comfort on top (offline downloads, casting, kids mode), not a key to your own server.
On profiles specifically: switching between your Jellyfin users is free in the app. If the website reads like that's paywalled, that's on me — I'll fix the wording.
I genuinely want to get this balance right, and this is the feedback that shapes it. Which feature do you feel belongs in the free tier? If something reads as essential rather than comfort, I'd rather move it than lose your trust.

At least use your own words when replying to someone. It's so disrespectful to just feed their comments into your LLM and post its output verbatim as if they're your own words.
