    Hi,

HiBy has HiRes players with support for Tidal and Qobuz, so maybe there exists a mp3-player/media-player that also supports Jellyfin?

I prefer a small portable player. I want to avoid using my phone, that's why I'm looking for a separate music player. If that player has Android and internet acces, it defeats my purpose.

So you looking for something like an ipod to play music that will run jellyfin as a server? i'm guessing since you don't want internet access? Or are you looking for something that will connect to your home network without a with data plan so you can only use around the house.

    Not a server, a client.
I don't know how Hiby gets the data from qobuz or tidal.

For me, it would be enough if I could connect when I'm on my home network and download the most recent tunes.

Internet access is ok if it's for the client-server connection. I don't want a browser and other apps.

These devices are making a bit of a comeback.

Portable Music Player (PMP) or Dedicated Audio Player (DAP) is what you're looking for.

But if you exclude Android you're really limiting your options.

Some Android devices do have a limited boot mode where you can only use the music player so that could work for you.

I've a use case that's actually a similar problem to yours.

I have a usb drive for playing music in my car, I keep the drive updated with a python script that runs when the drive is plugged into the server, I then get an email when it's done.

You could do the same with any PMP that supports an SD card.

Let me know if you want the script but someone has made a desktop app that does the same thing.
