Since the last Update, I don't have Covers for Movies... even if I delete the Connection to the Folder and reconnect it.

    Hi all,
I am still on Jellyfin 10.10.7 on Ubuntu 22.04.5 fearing the upgrade to 10.11 would wreak havoc on my install as I have read multiple reports of things going south.
I have a backup of Jellyfin (made as per the official instructions) and I have the 10.10.7 packages safely stored:
    jellyfin-server_10.10.7+ubu2204_amd64.deb
    jellyfin-web_10.10.7+ubu2204_all.deb

Now, what would be the safest or most logical way to do the upgrade?
    - update Jellyfin to 10.11.10 and see what happens (I can always downgrade to 10.10.7 if anything goes wrong) and then upgrade to ubuntu 24.04
    - upgrade system to 24.04. I presume that would update Jellyfin to 10.11.10, right? If Jellyfin is troublesome, can I downgrade to 10.10.7while running ubuntu 24.04?

    Thanks for any input

You should upgrade Ubuntu first. Also, make a backup of your _whole_ system in case Ubuntu upgrade fails!

You should mark your current Jellyfin packages as held:

    Code:
    sudo apt-mark hold jellyfin jellyfin-server jellyfin-web

This will hopefully keep your Jellyfin at 10.10.7 while Ubuntu is upgraded. If somehow that fails, or you do upgrade Jellyfin to 10.11.x and want to downgrade, you can run this to downgrade (on Ubuntu 24.04) and go back to Jellyfin 10.10.7

    Code:
    sudo apt install jellyfin=10.10.7+ubu2404 jellyfin-server=10.10.7+ubu2404 jellyfin-web=10.10.7+ubu2404
    sudo apt-mark hold jellyfin jellyfin-server jellyfin-web

If Jellyfin 10.11.x ever gets to run, it will start upgrading your Jellyfin database immediately, so you will probably need to restore /var/lib/jellyfin from the backup you made to get Jellyfin 10.10.7 working again.

You will probably find that after upgrading to Ubuntu 24.04 it disabled all third-party apt sources, so you will need to restore them, including Jellyfin's, and remember to restore it to the Ubuntu 24.04 repo not 22.04 (e.g.  /etc/apt/sources.list.d/jellyfin.sources should say "Suites: noble" not "jammy"). After adding back the Jellyfin repo, try an apt upgrade without saying yes... if it wants to upgrade to Jellyfin 10.11.x then run the commands above to install and hold version 10.10.7+ubu2404

Thanks for taking the time. BTW, did you manage to successfully migrate to 10.11.10? What size storage do you have? I have 80+ TB so am worried about the database migration.

I migrated to 10.11.1 when it came out, then 10.11.2 and 10.11.3 but it was at that time I reverted back to 10.10.7 because of poor Finamp performance. The main Jellyfin web client was not a problem. The migration all well well.

Jellyfin's upgrade is about metadata so it's _how many_ files you have that takes the time, not how large they are. That said, 80+ TB sounds like you have a lot of files Smiling-face I have a >500MB library.db with over 200,000 items, the migration went fine for me, the upgrade process gave a good visual indication in the web client as it progressed.
