    Hello everyone,
when i try to upgrade running the jellyfin_10.11.4_windows-x64.exe in Windows 11 Pro, i get "Smart App Control blocked an app that may be unsafe", previous version was Ok.
    Any ideas?

Just verify that you downloaded the .exe from the proper Jellyfin repository and you'll be fine. Windows likes to throw messages like that for some programs, just click the "I know what I'm doing" button and install it.
Btw, please report back how your experience on Windows 11 is, that's my server environment and I'm staying on 10.10.7 for now because I haven't heard anything good about 10.11 yet.

As I remember, I had an extremely slow and error prone scan with a setting of 1.  The combination that worked for me was the "empty" parallel tasks input (system core count) with the Optimistic property in the xml.  Yes, my processor has multiple cores. Full scans still take some time. With a large music collection, I expect that when doing the replace metadata on the full library. Update scans, normalisation scans, etc. are relatively fast on newly added files.

Exactly how the application manages database access would be an answer that the developers could explain much better than I could. I just settled on the settings that no longer gave me log errors associated with locking, while improving overall performance.

Also, it might be helpful to add that I did a fresh install of v 10.11.x  I did not try migrating from the previous version as database migrations after refactoring can be problematic in any application. I just waited out the rescan, as my media files have good embedded tags.

If those settings work out for you, then go for it. Db locking apparently happens in a very inconsistent way and case by case so far, surely there are some things that the devs need to polish. In my case, I tried migrating and also starting from scratch (Linux Mint, bare metal), and never had db locking issues (default NoLock, and I always set parallel tasks to 1). I’ve had a very good experience with the new releases, just minor things (like the local intros not working, but it hasn’t worked since 10.9. And also took some trial and error to make my WebOS client work as expected without playback issues).

I downloaded it from the official repository.
This Smart App Control feature of Win11 is turned on only in fresh-clean  Windows 11 install, that's why on some Windows 11 systems you don't see it apart from the standard warning that you can by pass it. This one you can't by pass it!

Now about my system, seems to work ok but i just recently started using Jellyfin (10.11.3)  and i can't compare the behaviour. I'm satisfied with hw acceleration in my movies library.

    Upgraded from 10.10.7 to 10.11.4.
Seems to work well enough, but feels positively sluggish compared to 10.10.7 in some situations, such as:

    - Opening a user's start page (takes about 3 seconds)
    - Opening an admin's dashboard (takes about 6 seconds)

Both these things cause at least 1 CPU core to max out for the whole duration, which is saying something considering the hardware.

The hardware in question is an AMD Ryzen 9700X with 64 GB RAM and a 4 TB SSD.
Jellyfin has no plugins installed, runs bare-metal on Linux behind an also bare-metal Caddy reverse proxy that even serves the web client by itself so that Jellyfin does not have to.

I mean, if that kind of setup is slow, what more can one even do?
There is definitely room for improvement in that regard.

1 second for me opening the homepage (even with mods)

0.1 second to open the dashboard

CPU usage does jump up to 100% (that includes launching Firefox)

That looks better than what I am getting.

I presume all the CPU work goes into database shenanigans. My data/jellyfin.db is 1.6 GB and I don't know if SQLite was ever meant to grow that large.
Maybe once Jellyfin supports PostgreSQL or another more optimized DB engine things will speed up.

As for the dashboard, I probably should clarify, it opens immediately, but on the first opening it takes 6 seconds and a lot of CPU work to calculate the new media counters.
On a second dashboard opening the counters are there immediately, but presumably they have been cached, and the 6 seconds CPU spike is still there in the background calculating new values.
